Description: Assistant or Associate Professor - Immunology and Developmental Biology
Position Summary: Furman University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in biology, at the assistant or associate professor level, to begin in August 2009.
(1) We seek a broadly-trained immunologist, whose teaching responsibilities may include introductory biology, genetics, cell biology, and an upper-level undergraduate immunology course. The successful candidate will be expected to utilize and help maintain the department's vivarium, and will also have access to a shared cell-culture facility.
(2) We also seek a developmental biologist, with preference for candidates whose research focuses on developmental genetics, evolutionary development, and/or invertebrate models. Teaching assignments may include introductory biology, genetics, and an upper-level undergraduate course in developmental biology
Candidates must have the Ph.D. or expect to receive it by August 2009, and show evidence of interest and excellence in teaching, and a commitment to establishing a productive research program in the environment of a primarily undergraduate institution. Furman is a selective, independent, liberal arts university of 2,600 students. A major expansion and renovation of our science buildings and facilities has just been completed.
